Il dominio “.eu” debutta sul Web

In occasione della “Giornata dell’Europa”, gli indirizzi Web dei siti delle istituzioni europee hanno adottato il dominio di primo livello “.eu”. In ogni caso, gli attuali indirizzi “.int” delle istituzioni continueranno a essere accessibili per un periodo transitorio di un anno. Il 7 aprile 2006 la possibilità di registrare un nome con il dominio europeo era stata estesa anche ai cittadini, dopo il “sunrise period” riservato ai detentori di diritti proprietari.

A testimoniare il successo riscontrato, oltre un milione di richieste di registrazione pervenute a Eurid, associazione no-profit a cui compete la gestione del nuovo dominio.
