The purpose of this paper is to detail an effective course model for teacher education courses via distance delivery.

The course model has been used to deliver multiple sections of three courses developed by the writer. Strengths of the model include manageable assignments, interesting resources delivered by "lecturettes" and interaction requirements through discussion topics.

This paper will define the context in which the model is used, the history of the development of the model, components of the course model, course requirements, and recommendations for other individuals seeking to develop online courses.

In addition to references, an example of an assignment message and a resource lecturette are included. "A remarkable change is happening in education" (Skomars, 1999, p. 470) and this is crucial to "opening the gates in teacher education," the theme of this conference.
